What does the Québec Construction Code say?
- On the backflow preventer:
Every owner of a residential or IC/I building within the scope of the Quebec Safety Code is obliged to follow the prescriptions of Chapter I, Plumbing , of this Code , regardless of the building 's year of construction. These obligations can be summarized as follows: Protect the drinking water network by installing RCDs at all points where there is a risk of contamination and at the building' s water inlet. - On backflow prevention device verification:
Every owner ofa residential or IC/I building within the scope of the Quebec Safety Code is required to have its backflow prevention device verified annually by an accredited verifier. Keep a record of checks carried out. A building owner who finds that his or her equipment or installations present a risk of contamination of the drinking water system is expected to correct the situation by contacting a plumbing contractor holding license subclass 15.5.
